Who am I and What is This Blog?

Updated: Apr 10

Hello and welcome to my first official blog post! I am so excited to share these stories with you! But first, here's my story to give you some background on who I am and why I am doing this!

My name is Cameron Peters, and I am 23 years old. I am married to the love of my life who I started dating in September 2018 and we got married in June 2024. She has been my rock for the last 7 years and we are truly living our dream! We recently adopted our dog, an Akita named Envy, last February and she has brought nothing but joy and fun into our lives as well.

I have been very fortunate enough to have lived in a Christian household my entire life and always been given good role models to follow in my faith. I have two siblings: an older sister, Lindsey, and a younger brother, Cody. We grew up prioritizing our faith and seeing our parents surround themselves with like-minded individuals. This showed us what it was like to have a good support system around you and the power of being a believer. Throughout my college years, my faith strengthened, and I was introduced to The Crossing by my wife and her father and brother. We have called there our church for the past three years and have built strong connections with both God and our community.

With sports, it has been something that I have been obsessed with since before I could even remember. There are countless photos of me as a 2- or 3-year-old holding a bat in my hand or running around with a soccer ball. It was very apparent from very early on that I was going to love sports. Throughout my youth I branched out to try many different sports such as basketball, track and field, and football, before starting my collegiate career as a bowler at Missouri Baptist University. This opportunity helped blend my lives as an athlete and a faith-driven person.

I had many role models growing up, but as I became more of a fan of sports I struggled to look around and see many athletes who exuded their faith in what they do in their sport. You will hear the occasional athlete give all glory to God in their interviews, but how many of those players actually live their lives centered on God?

"I know I have a place in heaven waiting for me because of Him, and that's something no earthly prize or trophy could ever top" - Golden State Warriors PG Stephen Curry

This was a question I asked myself this past year after I graduated from college. Athletes are in the news every day, there's always controversy or conversations about status in the secular world, but seldom do we see these athletes being praised for their devotion to God. This is something I hope to achieve through this blog, giving praise to God by highlighting major sports stars and athletes who have their faith at the forefront. Whether it be a specific star openly talking about faith every chance they get or an entire team holding worship nights, there are so many stories of faith in sports that are swept under the rug solely because faith isn't a media staple.

I hope this blog will cause you to ask questions, are you integrating faith in your everyday life? If these athletes can be so open in such a critical space, how should we feel being more open in our jobs? If you have any athletes you know of that you want me to cover, please let me know and I cannot wait to show you a different side of sports and give you some athletes to root for!

About Me

I am someone who has always been surrounded by sports and faith. When I thought of the idea to share stories of major athletes who are very open and honest about faith in their lives, I knew it was something I should pursue. Hope you enjoy!
